Comments : Interview notice was for N400 only - not the i751. The interview was great. Friendly officer. The pending i751 meant I could not be offered a same-day oath, so now I must wait for the approval and a letter with the oath date. He did say that he would be approving both together. My spouse did not attend with me.

18th July: Oath Ceremony in Hartford. 10.30am appointment. Started 11.15am. Handed in Greencard and questionnaire. All done in an hour.

Embassy Review : 7.30am train to Paddington, tube on to Vauxhall. 9 minute walk to the embassy past a handy Tesco Express :-)

I arrived 30 minutes early and had to wait a little. At the outside kiosk, I was asked for my passport and DS160. I was then taken straight through past a massive line of other visa people, straight through security. I had a bottle of water in my rucksack and I was asked to take a sip of it in front of the security officer.

I then walked up to the main entrance of the embassy itself and was told again to skip the queue and have a ticket issued, which they stuck to my DS160.

After finding the correct windows I sat and waited. I was first asked to come forward and supply a range of documents, passport, DS160, birth certificate, change of name by deed poll, I134 etc. I was asked for two passport photographs which I had with me, but as I wear glasses they were not accepted so I had to pop round the corner and use the on site photobooth and get new shots taken without glasses for £6. No major drama, but awful pics hahaha!

I sat back down and was then called up 10 minutes later. I was interviewed by a humourless woman who clearly needs to consider a new job. She asked me a few questions and handed me a blue form with a box ticked refused as my medical details were not yet back, but she kept my passport and file and told me that as soon as the medical report was back (ETA 1 - 2 days) they would process my application and send me my packet and passport back by courier as I paid.

So essentially I am approved, subject to the medical. Simple process. In and out in 1.5 hours. Now the wait for the packet begins. I am glad I paid extra for the courier service. I called the medical place in Knightsbridge as soon as I got out and they said my medical had been processed and was just waiting for final sign off from the panel and then it would be sent to the embassy. I also received a lovely E-Mail later that day from the doctor I saw. Top marks for Dr Cronje in London.

So finally 256 days after submitting the original application, I am kind of approved.

Embassy Review : I attended the Hartford, CT office for my AOS biometrics on April 19th 2019 (Good Friday). I was surprised it was open, but it was!

I arrived 15 minutes early, I handed my ID and appointment letter to reception and was quickly fingerprinted and photographed.

I was the only person in the whole office! Everything ran smoothly, the staff were friendly and I was done in 15 minutes.

Now comes the very, VERY long wait to receive the EAD/AP, let alone the AOS interview.
Harassment Level : Very Good

Hi - just curious if you've already received your visa. we are still waiting but I've been checking others who interviewed around the same time as us. Thanks!

Yes, I have. Check my signature for the exact dates. Visa was issued and received within 10 days and I am now in the US, married and have filed my AOS/AP/EAD.

Hi, I just curios. I see you submitted I-485 at Hartford, CT. Does this center belong to the area where you live? Or you just mailed there? I see this center has shortest time for processing. Within a month you got already bio-metrics. Thanks

All three packs were sent to the main Chicago USCIS address. The AP and EAD are dealt with by the NVC and the main AOS is sent by USCIS to your local office for processing. For me that’s Hartford, CT. Hartford incidentally is one of the slowest processing centres! Biometrics appointments are usually quite quick for most people however the loooooonng wait comes after that. Hope this helps.

I think it was a full month. The full list of everything you need is sent with your appointment letter. Any more questions give me a shout.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
