Local US CIS Office Review: San Antonio TX
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : June 18, 2020
Embassy Review : Had our appointment on Oct 11 2018. Heard that there was a major water leak @ the Office on Oct 10, and they had to cancel interviews indefinitely.
We reached the office @7:20 AM. Went through the metal detectors, and the reception, got our tickets and sat in the waiting area.
All of a sudden @7:30 AM, someone comes outside asking for our ticket number. We waited for him to repeat our ticket number, again, before we went and greeted him.
Young hispanic officer - with a manbun and a decent amount of facial hair and sunglasses.
Well spoken, greeted us, shook our hands. Got our names, introduced himself and lead us to follow into his office
Swore us under oath ...before seating us down..
The interview was very smooth and basic - we had submitted a significant amount of evidence along with the application
Before everything - requested our passports, SSN cards, temp EAD card, H1-B work authorization document...
Went through the I-130 with my spouse, validating all her information - names, SSN, DOB, parent's names, addresses, employment related information etc. Changed the address to our current address on the application...
Asked us about how we met, when did it blossom into a serious relationship, added that he saw all our pictures, house deed, employment info etc (felt good that he had reviewed all the documentation before he met us). He also investigated if we did something after the small civil ceremony, to which we added that we had a cultural wedding...in my spouse's hometown in the US...
After he was convinced that our marriage related information was good...moved onto asking me the same validation questions - names, DOB, parent's names, address, employment..
Moved to the I-485 immigration related questionnaire and proceeded to ask yes/no related questions...changed one of my no answers to yes (had a speeding ticket back in 2014 - which was paid off)...
After he was convinced everything was done to his satisfaction, said he was going to approve my Green Card and should expect to see it in 10-14 business days..
Also gave us the spiel about the I-751 Removal of Conditions form and to file a new I-131 if I intend to live outside the US for >6 months...
Added that I have to go and change my SSN Card and my Driver's License once I receive my Green Card to reflect the expiration dates...
The interview was done by 7:50 and we were out...
Amazing experience!
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
