Consulate Review: Jamaica
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 29, 2013
Embassy Review : Just wanted to post a review of my fiance's interview on August 28, 2013 in Kingston Jamaica. His appointment was scheduled for 8:30am - being the man that he is he showed up almost 2 hours early (LOL). Being that he was early, he had ample time to relax, eat something, etc. before going in. He said that once he went in they first took his appointment letter and the forms (DS156, DS156K, DS157) - at some point later they took his police record, medical, non impediment, affidavit of support, birth certificate, divorce decree(he had both the decree absolute and the decree nisi) and marriage certificate from previous marriage. He was the only person that was being interviewed for a K-1 visa and ended up being the last person that they called up to interview. He mentioned that he saw many people being denied for not having enough documentation but he wasn't worried.

He said he was interviewed by a nice lady that was very cordial and easy going. She had him swear in and then proceeded to ask a few questions as follows:
- When and where did we meet
- What I did for a living
- If I had any children
- How old my daughter is
- Where my daughter lives
- If his family has met me
- Where I stay when I am in Jamaica
- What is my favorite thing to watch on TV (WOW - LOL he answered correctly too)

After answering the questions she took his passport gave him a green slip and told him he should have it within 3 weeks. Overall, he was adequately prepared and we have a very close relationship I think he would have been able to answer any question thrown at him. Smooth process so far and I hope AP won't be too long

Good luck to everyone else and I hope this review helps others prepare!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
