US Embassy in Kiev has Packets 3 & 4 online which we utilized to prepare fiance documents early. The Embassy encourages correspondence by email which we also utilized to submit the KEV-1 List -- after I called the Embassy to verify receipt of the petition package from NVC. The internet can be a real time saver. But,for us, the Embassy did not send an email or letter about the interview. I called 6 days before the interview to ask the status and learned of the interview date. It pays to follow-up with phone calls to humans.
.
.
We received conditional approval of K-1 Visa on 1/24 - on submittal of original Russian Police Certificate which had not been received (after 2 months) for interview -- we had a faxed copy. I'd like to acknowledge the Russian & Ukrainian mail service for their incompetancy and thank the US Embassy for their understanding. |

Biometrics Appt in Alexandria, VA was scheduled for 9 am on Sat. There were about 25 people scheduled for 8, for 9, for 10, & for 11 am. We waited outdoors until 9 am, then Olga went indoors (I had to wait outdoors). Olga did not have bios done until 10:30 am. Bios took about 10 min.
AOS Interview was scheduled for 8:15 am in Fairfax, VA office. Because of traffic, we were 30 minutes late. No problem. We went to the second floor and waited about 30 minutes for our interview. It was very straight forward. The officer (male) asked a only few questions about when we met, when & where we got married, where we are living, etc. No trick questions at all. The officer and I actually talked about politics and the military for a while. At the end of the interview, he kind of scared us for a moment because he asked for Olga's work permit and took it. I thought we had messed up. He turned to Olga and said CONGRATULATIONS you are now a permanent resident of the US. He took her passport and stamped it with a temporary residency stamp good for one year. That was it. The whole interview was less than 30 minutes. The officer was great.
We recieved the green card in the mail about 10 days later.
PLEASE NOTE: I think AOS went rather quickly for us. I think the reason for this was that we had a letter from our US Senator in our file. I wrote to Senator Allen just asking him to follow the process in the event there were any problems. I noticed that the Senator's letter was the first document in our file. I really think it made a difference and would highly recommend it to everyone. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
