Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 22, 2013
Embassy Review : Hi Guys!
I had my K1 visa interview today at the mumbai consulate...
I reached there at about 6.30 am and there were already 2 lines formed viz immigrant and non immigrant lines. there were about 35 people already in front of me. we were told to keep our passport and appointment letters ready. we were let in at about 7...went through security check after that and then the VFS staff put stickers on my appointment letter.
later we were all seated and we had to wait for the indian officers to call us one by one and have us submit our documents viz passport, medical record,PCC,ds 156, 156k,ds230, 3 photographs, DD,birth certificate photocopy, fiances 2011 tax returns and 2012 w2, form I-134. they also took our finger prints.
after that i had to wait for my turn to be interviewed by the american officer. I had to wait for almost 3 and a half hours to get my turn. i went for my interview at 11.15 am.My interview was over in 8-10 mins. My Interviewer was an elderly man
he kept saying your "husband" various times....i had to correct him every time saying i was not married yet and that he is my fiancee .... i was made to take an oath and sign the DS 230 part 2 in front of him. he asked me general questions about how i met my fiancee, where he works, how did he become a US citizen, he asked to see some pictures i showed him pictures from our engagement ceremony and some other pics, he saw each one of them , he asked from the pictures who was who, how often do you talk to each other? what do u do for a living? have u applied for a US visa before? do u have any family in the US? how long did u know each other before the engagement, when did u get engaged? He kept looking at the screen a lot...a few minutes later he said my visa was approved and that i could collect it within the week...
He seemed like a serious guy...although he did throw in a joke or two in between...the actual interview was quick and straightforward...i was out by 11.35 am..
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
