When Ibrahim got to the Embassy, he was told that his name was not on the list, then told it was on the list, finally told that it was not on the list and that he should contact the Embassy via email for a date. We followed up with the Embassy and they said that he did not show up for the interview so his date has returned to 8/4. Ibrahim later found out from others who received the same call he received, regarding rescheduling of their interview, that some of them had the same experience he had. Oh well. It was a nice possibility, but, it is still all in God's hands. 2009-10-22

We thank God, after 6 months, we were approved! I, the American fiance, did not attend the interview. My soon to be husband says it was not that bad but he was nervous in the beginning. They do try to put you under pressure. Asking you questions that you by all accounts shouldn't even have an answer to. But they will press you and if you cave and make up something, I think they think they have you at that point. My advice is to stay confident and do not sway from your truth no matter how much they press you. They asked my fiance about my first visit to Ghana and why didn't I go to Kenya or South Africa or anywhere else. He replied "I don't know. That was her choice. She likes to travel and she could've gone anywhere. That was my first time meeting her. How would I know why she chose. She just likes to travel." The lady asked him 5 more times that question, 5 different ways, but his answer was the same. You all have to remain firm in what you know to be true about your relationship. Since he wouldn't budge on that question she asked well where are the places she's traveled. Because he knows me he could answer that easily. He got a very young consul. He said she looked like she was 19 years old. She was African American. She asked mainly questions about me...where I worked, what I did, who my best friends were. She even asked what do me and my best friends like to do. As if he should know. So again, be prepared. I don't have to tell you to know your fiance. If the relationship is real, you will be able to answer any question they throw at you. And if you don't know, simply say you don't know. For your comparison, I will outline the specifics about our relationship because I wished someone had done this when I was reading Visa Journey, so I could compare and hopefully gauge my chances of an approval. The fact is when the day comes, no one can tell you what will happen. There is a 5 year difference. We met in 2010 in Africa but only began a relationship in mid 2014. We met 3 times in Africa, Amsterdam, and Paris. We had several pictures with various members of our family...mom, dad, grandma (over facetime), my daughter, etc etc. Aside from what they required of us, we also had our parents submit notarized letters of support. We had communication logs from Viber, Whatsapp, Sprint, and Facetime. Again, our relationship is not fake. But I do hear some people who claim their relationship is real and still get denied. Those are the ones I hope this helps. I also see alot of disgruntled people on here who have been denied, and it makes it seem like everyone gets denied, BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE. If your relationship is real you have a good chance of conveying that to them and getting approved. Good luck! 2016-05-15

Fiancee spent 5-10 mins with immigration folks. They opened packet asked no question and sent her on her way to her connecting flight to Chicago. Process that day was much smoother than we both ever anticipated. Now about to begin the next phase of the journey TOGETHER :) 2013-09-10
