The Consular Officer also requested a new passport and a re-issued version of my birth certificate because they were 'old and dirty,' which we had to submit via the local courier. After a bit of a mix-up on the Consular Office's side which delayed the process by about a week, we finally got the visas. 2019-02-19

I am so glad that it will be over very soon. My advise to all of you is to stay positive and very active during this process. The first part of the process which is when the case is at USCIS, is relatively a quiet period of time ,where the only thing to do is wait for NOA 2. Then, in my opinion, is when the real action starts ... be very pro-active during NVC stage until you get the interview date. 2018-12-18
Ir5visa GJ & AJ India Texas No Mumbai, India 2017-07-11 2017-07-14 2018-01-31 2018-02-20 2018-07-23 2018-07-27 2018-12-03 It takes a lot of time to get the Regional Passport office PCC, for me it took more than a month. I applied for the renewal of the passport after scheduling all interviews and after getting my PCC. The Mumbai consulate called to know if I have renewed my passport as it had lesser than 8 months validity left. When I told them that I renewed the girl from the Mumbai consulate told me to update the DS-260 form online after renewal of the passport. I didn't have to change my appointment after getting the new passport. Even at Biometrics I gave them my old and new passport, they filled out a new form on their own. I got my medical examination done from Max Mohali (Chandigarh) and I can certify that Mumbai Consulate accepts it. Please note that you will need your 2 Photographs at your Biometrics appointment and they confirm if your Photographs are fine or not and they return them to you to take them to the Interview. At Biometrics, they also stamp the DS-260 confirmation page for successful completion of the Biometrics. You have to take the same stamped DS-260 confirmation to the interview, they ask for it. Interview process was very simple. The girls there for assistance helped me to rearrange my file and although I took all the papers with me that were mentioned on NVC site as well one photocopy for each document, she told me to take out originals of only the following: 1. my sponsor's birth certificate and its English translation 2. my birth certificate's unavailability certificate and its English translation 3. my wife's death certificate (already in English) 4. Stamped DS-260 confirmation (stamped at Biometrics) 5. My Old and new passport 6. 2 Photographs Although I got a letter from NVC that I must take a copy of my sponsor's last year's all W-2's that he used to file last year's Tax return, but no one asked for it at the interview and the girl assisting at the interview didn't even tell to take it out and the interview guy didn't ask for them either. As my wife had passed away and we never registered our marriage, I took 2 affidavits from close relatives who attended our marriage in 1970's as written in the website to prove our marriage, the girls assisting to rearrange documents at the interview said that as my wife is no more, they just want the original death certificate. I was called to the counter after some time as per the token given when I entered the consulate. The Punjabi translator came there with the Caucasian interviewer. The Caucasian interview guy asked me only 4 questions: 1. Who is sponsoring you. 2. What does he do and what does his wife do. 3. Have you ever visited US before 4. When was the last time you visited and how many times Before starting the interview, I told him that I have renewed my passport to which he asked if I already updated the DS-260 form. He confirmed that in case even I hadn't, they could do it there as well. After the interview he kept my old as well as new passport and said that I'll get the passport with Visa in the next 3 to 4 days and that I have to pay USCIS Green Card fee of $220 after receiving the passport. Landed in Boston. No questions asked. I asked for Punjabi Translator to which the officer said no need and asked my documents. Without asking any questions, he stamped the papers and handed my Passport back. 2018-12-10
