I travelled with my husband from Santiago Airport. We got off the plane and waited in the queue for less then 5 minutes (there were lot of people but many officers). I passed with a female officer I gave her only my passport. She checked in the system my information. She asked me to put my face in front a camera and 2 minutes later she stamped my pasaport and wrote the visa category and Alien number on the stamp. She just asked about the address that is in Downey, my husband answered lol and I confirmed the address later, my husband Asked her anything else you need? She said no and told me Wait for you green card to arrive in the mail! Then we walked to pick our luggage pretty chill no one checked our luggage but my husband told me they scam all the luggages before. | 2024-04-06 | |||||

I was a little confused because everyone else on here seems to have gotten their passport back within a week or even less. Checked the status immediately after and it says "Administrative Processing". This seems to be contradictory because he was told he was approved. I was wondering if this was normal or maybe they have to run a few more checks to verify info before issuing the visa, but they never mentioned it. I will post updates as we have them. Update: Apparently this is completely normal. It was "issued" by Friday, just three days after the interview. By Monday it was sent in the mail. At the embassy in Madrid, they said 2-3 weeks for the passport to be returned, but we got it back in 1 week! (interview on the 9th and passport delivered the 16th). You must then pay an immigrant fee, which was just increased to $235 (used to be $220) before you depart for the United States. Having completed that step, I can happily say we are all done with the whole process. Now we just have to get on a plane. :) I probably won't be updating anymore now. However, if anyone has questions, please reach out. I tried to include everything I could because one of the ways I eased my anxiety was seeing what to expect based on previous timelines. I hope we can bring that same comfort to anyone going through this journey. Best wishes to all! :) | 2024-04-17 |
