Richard & Janine Ghana Vermont Nebraska United Arab Emirates 2018-05-02 2018-05-09 2019-02-08 2019-03-25 2019-05-17 2019-06-03 2019-06-03 2019-06-20 2019-07-21 2019-07-27 2018-01-16 445* My husband, Richard interviewed on July 21, 2019 at the Abu Dhabi Consulate Office. I will recount his experience for your reading: Appointment time: 8a Arrival time:7:30a Upon entering the Embassy, Richard had to pass through security checkpoints. He had to show his appointment letter at the checkpoint. Once Richard went through the checkpoints along with others, with no problems. After the checkpoints, Richard was instructed to take a que number. He waited less than 20 mins. When his number came up he went to the appropriate window and was asked to show his passport, appointment letter, and his Emirates Visa; his fingerprints were taken. Richard was then instructed to have a seat until he was called again. The wait was under an hour. Richard was then called to a counter, where the Officer was seating behind glass. Richard stated that the (female) officer gave him a welcoming smile and told him to have a seat. From there, Richard was asked to give his name, my name (his wife's name). Richard was asked if he had children, and if I had children. He was asked our children's names and ages. Richard was then asked about my stepdaughter, from a previous marriage. She lives in our home and I filed her on my taxes. Richard knows my stepdaughter very well and was able to explain the situation with ease. Richard was asked how we met, and was given space to tell the story of our faithful meeting! He was asked where we married, how many times have we been together since first meeting (2). Richard was asked to show pictures, which we had a photo album prepared. Richard said he slowly showed each picture one at a time and was told by the officer to move through the pictures a little faster (lol)! Richard stated that, he was asked how we communicate; he replied, through phone calls, texts, video chats and (what we call) love mails. Richard was asked to show proof of our communication. We had prepared for that question! Periodically. throughout our relationship we would screenshot our video chats, we should print out call logs, and print our text message threads. Richard joked that he had so much paperwork he could barely carry it! Richard said he proceeded to show the documents and after a few, the officer told him that he didn't need to show anymore. The officer then proceeded to ask Richard for our home address, *in the States. The officer questioned if I had been married before; of course she already knew the answer was yes! The officer informed Richard that my previous divorce decree was not uploaded through CEAC, and would need to be uploaded. The officer then proceeded to state that my 2018 tax paperwork was insufficient. I filled late, so I had only sent my tax return statement, for that year, not the IRS tax transcript. Richard was given a blue odor 221g, with explanation that the visa was not approved, however it could easily be overcome if the two (stated above) documents were uploaded. Richard was then asked to have a seat to wait on getting his 2nd set of fingerprints done. I must note that the officer gave Richard a pink slip, with instructions on how to remove conditions once in the USA and appropriate. The officer also gave him an Immigrate Rights and Responsibilities brochure. The officer also took Richard's passport and placed Empost (UAE postal service) stickers on it. After the 2nd fingerprints were taken, Richard was informed he could leave. Upon arriving back at the hotel, Richard immediately called me. (Phones/ electronics are not allowed in the Embassy). After hearing of his experience, we both felt devastated! I knew for sure the divorce decree had been uploaded. Not once did the officer ask to see our original documents, which he had. The officer stated that once the documents were uploaded onto CEAC (Consular Electronic Acceptance Center) we would receive an email with instructions on what to do next. So, we quickly got off our pity party and got things done. I resubmitted the divorce decree, and didn't include the front page. I then went on IRS.GOV and downloaded my 2018 tax transcript and wage information documents. An email was sent to the Abu Dhabi's Embassy email, and the wait begin! The next morning we received an email stating that the documents were received and accepted (Thank you Jesus)!! We were instructed for Richard to take his passport to a particular post office to be mailed to the Embassy; which he did. Five days later, Richard's passport and US Visa packet was delivered to him!! He is on his way home to me in just a little while!! The journey we are on in this visa process is not easy, but with faith in God, the love of your spouse it certainly is possible and worth the fight to accomplish it! God bless everyone on their journeys and cheers to love & success!!! 2019-07-27
