From NVC letter: "...within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post..." Yet, according to a phone call to NVC "Your case has been sent to the consulate in Kyiv on 03-26-2009." Actually date when received by the consulate is unknown. I called the call center today (April 9, 2009) and found out that the case is already in Kyiv, Ukraine. I asked for the interview at the end of May (I cannot make it to Kyiv earlier), but the answer on the other end of the line was "You will have to call back later since the dates for the interviews in May are not opened yet." The operator suggested calling next week. Will keep calling until they have the dates for May... April 21, 2009. Nearly two weeks later, the answer is still "For K1 visa we do not have open dates for May". Today I was told that the dates for May will be available at the end of April. Keep this in mind if you are trying to schedule an interview at the US consulate in Kyiv at the beginning of a month. April 23, 2009. Finally. A call to the call center lead to setting up the interview date at the end of May. All of a sudden, May interview dates in US Consulate in Kyiv became available. 28-th of May is the only day I can be in Kyiv with my love to see her interview through. Now to buying tickets, arranging hotel in Kyiv, the usual. The interview: 30 seconds with a 2.5 hour wait -- see report. 2009-06-03

Total time spent 1 1/2 hours, most of it sitting and waiting for next call to window, fingerprints, papers, signatures. Didn't really scrutinize any papers, didn't want to see all backup relationship papers and only questions they asked her was IF she knew about my misdemeanor in court in 1989. She said YES, it was nothing, and they told her they were responsible to make sure she knew any court records, then they said Enjoy your trip to USA. DONE!!! As of October 23rd, not touches or email notices or activity on this filing November 25th will be 120 days. Vermont approving July and 1st week of August Filings this week, so I hope this week is IT!! Vermont moving faster now with more employees added this month, I hear??? Finally received this in todays mail Dec 10th at 2pm EST. Website still says pending and NVC has no record yet, so it must be on the way to New Hampshire. Never got email notification either Called NVC on 12-15-08 and got KEV # for Embassy. Also received NVC letter today with number. Correction, I had stated that I had 3 letters with Dec 10-15 & again on the 16th and they said it was going to Kiev, but today Dec 29th, i found out it is still in NVC and they have NO clue when it will leave? Finally got released from NVC after 5 weeks, on its way DHL to Kiev 1-21-09 JFK Port of Entry was a breeze. 1 1/2 hours in line at 5pm busy times, officer took me to special room, only asked me ONE question. Did I know what I had to do before and after 90 days?? Said yes and told him, he said Welcome to USA. Simple and very polite man around 45. 2009-11-29

Was told to check with the CIS (CSC), I did, and was about to refile, when I was told to have the CIS-CSC conduct a search. about 10 days later I received a second NOA2, so they re-sent the package to the NVC. Now the NVC is taking forever to process our package, they have had it for 19 days. They are killing me with this waiting... 2008-11-18

RFE dated 2008-01-14, RFE letter dated -01-15, received -01-17. Don't forget certified translations of Passport Stamps!!! Mailed RFE in 2008--01-26, Rcvd -01-29. Their Reply 02-08 (lost in the office for 10 days!) Updated web page 02-12 but said case still pending. Rcvd NOA2 dated 02-11 on 02-14. Lena and I agree: Our best Valentine gift ever!!!! But then it got ugly. USCIS CA "SERVICE" CENTER FAILED TO MAIL APPROVED PETITION TO NVC!!! NVC says ask USCIS where it is, it can take 90 days (several calls). USCIS says, yes that is correct (several more calls). At day 89 (2008-05-09) Infopass appointment reveals "SERVICE" Center failed to mail approved petition. Petition touched 5/13, 5/14, 5/15 but no positive statement that package finally was mailed. 2nd INFOPASS appointment 5/23 to verify if package mailed. Told "Inquiry has been resolved." Phone calls again to USCIS help number on 5/27. After no help from operator (again) ask for supervisor who sends email on my behalf to CA "Service" Center. Email received 5/30 that says package mailed to NVC on 5/27, a delay of 107 days which includes 19 days after the first INFOPASS appointment to get the !@#$% package in the mail. Once in the NVC's control they get it out to the Embassy in Kyiv same day, Kyiv extends the petition upon request as they received the hard copy 3 days after the petition expired. By downloading the packet 3/4 material from the Kyiv Embassy web site we are able to make interview appointment same day Embassy receives the petition as they emailed me that they had it and extended the expiration date. A breeze at the Embassy in Kyiv...lots of waiting, less than 5 minutes with the Consular Officer whose only question was, "Do you speak English?" He was relived when the answer was Yes. Told that Visa would be in hand -07-28, received 07-25. A pleasure dealing with Department of State vs. USCIS & Department of Homeland Security's CA Service Center. A beautiful wedding followed a harrowing adventure: late departure from Kyiv, short time in JFK to enter POE, clear customs, check bags and make it to the next flight to LAX. 2012-05-29
