I-601 waiver was filed to USCIS in late Sept 2022, and expedited in April 2023 due to wife's life-threatening illness with the diagnosis, doctors' letters and other certificates. I-601 was approved in May 2023, the case was sent to consulate again, no second interview was necessary, just sent in the passport and a second medical exam report. The visa was issued on 6/23/2023 and finally received on 6/28/2023. From filing to IR-1 visa received, it takes total 31 months with a late stage cancer diagnosis. Before filing I-130, we filed I-129F for K-1 visa that was approved then withdrawn because the suspension of K-1 visa during the first year of COVID. Nearly 4 years of life was spent on filing and seemingly endless waiting, very hard to go through. This makes us to cherish life more, cherish love even more. Peace to the world. | 2023-06-29

One week later I was approved (I was asked to send in proof and I did, however, this information was not received before approval of I130. According to the I130 case approval times for CSC from this website my case was already a couple weeks past due. The time between optin to electronic processing and getting accepted for electronic processing was about 15 days (June 24th - July 9th) but I never received any email from NVC. So, I lost 5 days because of this (docs sent out July 14th). SO CALL TO FIND OUT WHEN ELECTRONIC PROCESSING HAS BEEN APPROVED! I was advised by NVC to resend in the optin for electronic processing on 7-8-2010 which I did and sent I864 as well at their request. As soon as electronic processing has been granted (call NVC) SEND EVERYTHING. Don't wait for GZO! I think everyone should be in and out of NVC in three weeks without unexpected problems. It wasnt until July 28th that I official heard from NVC regarding electronic processing at which time I got GZO#. I do not understand the time lag of over one month from optin to GZO #. | 2010-09-03

For 3 months they told me to stop calling them and to wait for the 90 days to be up before filing an inquiry. Then they finally pulled the file and found that no documents had been sent to NVC | 2010-02-09

I called CSC after 30 days and had proof it was delivered by EMS and signed for by Linda Fairbanks. As I was about to assemble a new I-129F packet, the I-130 petition was approved. So, the K-3 was abandon. Had so much trouble with the NVC. Called them numerous times concerning the police report, some of the representatives knew what they were doing, others didn't. It's really a crap shoot. Everything else was ok they said. Later, we found out that that there was a problem with the birth certificate. I had to call to the NVC again. Luckily, my call was answered by a representative that cared about her work and helping others. Now, we are just waiting to hear from Guangzhou, China. | 2009-10-06 |
