I joined my fiance at the embassy. We arrived early at the embassy and followed the advice to go to the window first before the line. We were given a number for which window we should go to after security and told to stand in the line. Once the embassy opened up for (I assume), the afternoon interviews, we went through security and then to the first window. The first embassy officer was friendly, just took fingerprints and asked a few questions and then we were moved to another area to wait for the interview. We went into that building and received a green envelop to place all the additional evidence into (it had a checklist on the front). We were then called to the first room where a lady checked all of our paperwork and asked for any additional information they didn't have/needed. Some of the documents they didn't even ask for. They did ask for my W2s over my Tax Transcripts since they were easier to read. She informed us that potentially the photo submitted would be rejected due to shadows on the background, but to confirm if we needed another passport photo in the interview with the actual Officer. She also asked if we had made any travel arrangements for returning to the U.S. We answered honestly and said yes, and gave her the date but informed her that the travel was tentative and we could make adjustments to it, if needed. She jotted down the date, but didn't express any concerns. I asked if I was going to be allowed to attend the actual interview and she said,"yes, thank you for coming, it's highly encouraged that the fiance comes and you can be in the interview too!" We then waited to be called into our interview. There was another K1 couple in there, the guy was the USC and the girl was the Argentinian fiance. They went first and both were allowed to attend the interview. When we were called for my fiance's interview after this couple, the officer asked that I remain out of the interview room (I'm female/USC and my fiance is male/Argentinian). This was a little odd to me since we just watched a couple go together and I was told I could go in with him. The interview went well though. The officer asked my fiance some basic questions about us/him: how/when we met, what he planned to do for work and then a lot of questions about my previous marriage/K1 filing: did he know about it, who was it with, was that person still in the U.S., did that person ever receive their greencard, etc. My fiance had no problem answering the questions because he knew all about it, but he did say he felt more like he got questioned about my ex/previous K1 and divorce than actual questions about us. The officer said he was approved after that! A few days later (10/15), we received a phone call from the embassy informing us that they lost our passport photo though. They informed us if we could bring the photo up that day, they would go ahead and give us Visa. So we took another passport photo up to the embassy. This time, only my fiance was allowed to go in and drop off the photo (I remained outside). He came back with his Visa/passport all in hand! At POE: We didn't have any issues. We went through Houston airport, and went together to the Visa line. They cleared me and asked for my fiance to go to secondary to check his paperwork. They informed me I could either go down to baggage claim or just stand waiting around. After about 25 minutes, my fiance was cleared - no issues. They did ask him a few more questions about us: where we met, when the wedding was, what he was going to do for a living. 2023-03-27
