She was approved for visa issuance before 12:00 noon. We are now waiting on the courier to delivery her passport and visa stamp, which we are told will take between 1 to 3 business days. The layers of beauracracy is amazing! First you apply to USCIS, then upon approval of that petition it goes to the National Visa Center, then it goes to the US Embassy Manila, where your file will sit for 6 months in a que until they schedule for an interview. Then you receive a packet and appointment letter for medical exam and then interview. After all of that, instead of stamping her passport at the interview, they collect it and hold it for a few days, upon which they will stamp the visa in the passport and deliver by courier. She can not leave the house until it arrives, thus 3 to 5 days of departure prep are shot. Upon delivery, it is still not over, she will have to attend an orientation class on "Travelling to America", which is required. After all of that, then she can fly, but not enter the country still until a US Customs person at the port of entry screens her documents. Absolutely amazing! If you are not patient and unprepared to go through this process, you need to be right now before the stress and heartache hits you. 2005-10-16
