For ppl outside of Canada you are supposed to get all 10 fingers fingerprinted from local police office and get it signed by the police dept, and send it to RCMP and apparently the wait time is 120days. OR.. visit Canada (if you are a citizen and still have family residing there) - this is the path I took and cost me a whole lot in terms of plane tickets... $2100 dollars round trip! :O - and get police clearance from places like international fingerprinting services and just get your name checked (I had to be physically there) Went to Toronto, Canada - Apr. 10,2008 Came back w/ RCMP letter- Apr. 22,2008 Submitted letter, passport stamp, and plane tickets (to/from Toronto) to Seoul Embassy via courier service: Apr.22,2008 Bought plane tickets to Baltimore, MD for May 9,2008 Visa did NOT arrive (they said would only take a week) almost 2 weeks, got anxious and called on May 6, after a 5-day holiday weekend, and embassy said they hadn't reviewed it yet, it was lost under piles of paperwork (OMG!!!) I pleaded that my plane ticket was May 9th and couldn't afford to cancel another plane ticket, so they promised to review it and approve it on May 7th and allowed me to pick it up myself at the consular office. Thank God! Finally got my K1 visa! | 2008-07-28

Read Inspector General's report A-08-07-17044 on Social Security Website. Apparently, a K-1 visa is an "EAD" (maybe waste paying the $300), despite what ICE told me. I found this out by chance when I went to SSA office to get number and they noted that CBP processed the visa incorrectly as a tourist visa (B2) and that once married I had to obtain an EAD. Funny, you can get SS# right away under a K1 visa, but once you're married you should wait for AOS and EAD to get it -seems backwards. | 2010-11-06

NOA 1 never recieved, called and they said they had mailed it. They sent another copy which I got two days later. NOA 2 e-mail stating approval was recieved on 2-20-08..... Went to bogota 3-14 through 3-24-2008. When I got home I called NVC and they told me that the papers had arrived in bogota on 3-1-2008. My fiance never got them. I called the embassy and told they that the packet was lost. The embassy said they would send out another packet. I went online and found the packet info on the BOG embassy site and downloaded all papers. My fiance filled them all out. Another week went by and the second packet had not shown up. I called the embassy and they told me to have my fiance come on thursday at 12:30 to the embassy and they would give her a packet 3. april 3 2008. My fiance went to the embassy to pick up packet and while she was there she told them that she thought she had all of the necessary documents with her. They inspected the documents and told her that she did not need the packet 3. They told her she would have packet 4 in 6 weeks. April 7, 2008. The embassy called my fiance today and said that she has an interview scheduled for May 2, 2008... They also told her to come to the embassy on thursday and pick up her packet 4. I guess they gave up on the mail system... | 2016-01-24 |
