Arrived on Sunday, 31 July in Juarez, I drove and my wife flew from Tijuana to Juarez. Went to hotel and waited for next morning. Monday, Aug 1st, Physical day walked around, people walking around trying to get you to take pictures and they want to tell you where to go, seems that for immigrant visa you go to the farthest medical clinic. Everyone was saying that fingerprints where needed. I wasn't aware and that information was not sent from the Consulate. Wife was there at clinic from 0630 to 1130. Was told to get back at 1400 for pickup. Went to consulate information to check on the fingerprints, they are even more useless than the people walking around telling you what to do, wanted to punch him on the face. Stated that I needed fingerprints and that not all information will be on the documents we receive from Consulate, where else are we suppose to look for the items to take to interview? August 02, Tuesday, interview day went to check in at the "waiting room" they told us to go to "CAS" to get the fingerprints, was around 940, interview was at 1015, they said it was not going to get done so they cancelled my appointment and made it for the next day at the same time. Setup the appointment for fingerprints that same day at 1 pm. People outside going to the business were charging between 20 to 180 dlls for setting up the interview, something that can be done free by yourself at home. August 3, Wednesday, Finally Interview day, went in at 915 even though interview was at 1015. Everything went fine, was out by 1330. Approved. Documents and passport was going to get delivered by DHL, some kind of Governement contract with DHL to make people spend more money either waiting there in Juarez or to have them fly back to their hometowns. We chose Juarez because I was not going to spend 300 dlls to send my wife back to Tijuana. August 4, DHL updated the site and it was picked up and at the DHL location. Went to DHL, they said the process takes a full day. I can't believe they have a government contract, when it takes them 24 hours to take a package and drive it 3 blocks, I would have cancelled that service a long time, even USPS is faster. Had to say another night at wonderfull Juarez. August 5, Friday, Went to DHL at 10 like they said and it was now available, we had to cross over the Americas Bridge, the one that doesn't charge a few to use. A bunch of kids start to tell you're in the wrong lane, don't listen, slowly move over to the right and get off right before you cross, there is a parking place, go ahead and park it takes the Customs for ever to stamp a passport. We waited there 3 hours. Seems that our tax money is being wasted there, 6 windows, 0 open because they all decided to go to lunch at once. US Citizens eager to cross over with their wife and family have to wait for these guys to decide they want to do their jobs. Finally got the passport stamped and crossed the border. Drove back 10 hours and got back to Cali. Juarez is not as bad as it was before but it is still dangerous, a police chief was killed the next day close to the bridge where the password was stamped. If nothing else is needed don't wonder off to much. 2011-08-08
