We had to have our visa re-validated because by the time i contacted them to see what was going on with our case (because it seemed like it was taking too long) they said he had missed his interview, but they had never contacted us to let us know they even received our packet, or sent us directions for obtaining the other necessary records, let alone set up an interview! He wasn't able to get everything together within the short time frame that was left, and they told us that our visa would have to be re-validated, even though i had contacted them a month before it expired! They told me that i would have to send a new I-129F packet, with updated evidence of our relationship and three notarized affidavits from people that our relationship was valid, and updated letters of intent! Even though i had of course saved our I-129F packet, it was totally disheartening to have to collect new evidence and print new conversations and skype logs when I thought we would be seeing each other soon! That set us back about three months. That part was a hot mess, and i had pretty nasty feelings towards the Swedish embassy, but at the actual interview things couldn't have gone more smoothly. They even said they were impressed with how thorough our paperwork was. :) Visas are usually valid for six months, so you usually have six months to enter the country before they expire, and unfortunately my fiance didn't read the actual visa when he got it and just assumed that was the case. Luckily he took it out a week before it expired and saw that it was going to expire next week and that for some reason it was only valid for three months! He had to change his flight, and we had to change our wedding date/plans, and throw everything together in a month's time! Don't be stupid like us! Make sure you check the actual date on the visa and don't assume anything! Don't assume the embassy will contact you--if it feels like it's been too long contact them as soon as you get that feeling. Don't try to be polite and keep waiting to hear from them like i did. Had i contacted them when i first got that feeling i would have saved myself A LOT of unnecessary paperwork! madness! So happy that mess is behind us now. :) | 2018-07-05 | ||||||||
