My medical was in Surrey a bit of a distance from the interview in Vancouver. As there must be a day between the medical and the interview to get your results, and interviews are only scheduled for certain days, I didnt have a choice but to be in vancouver for 6 days over a weekend. The medical was very easy. I brought my immunization proof, passport photos, the fee. As soon the doctor knew I was a Canadian born with all my immunizations, he went through a checklist so quickly and checked off that I was ok even before I answered. THen I took a cab (abotu 5-10mins away) to the chest scan and blood test. I had to wait a little bit for the blood test, but all in all it did not take to long. After the weekend, as I was staying in Vancouver, I took the train (to save some money) from downtown to surrey then a cab to the doctors office. The next day I walked to the interview. Having read some things online, I was nervous and had brought a lot of paperwork to the interview including our original petition and ongoing evidence. I got to the interview about 20 mins early. You check in, and go through initial security, where they look through all your things take things you cant bring in --ie cellphone. Contrary to other reports, you are allowed to bring a small purse, they have a small box that it must fit into to be allowed in. After initial scanning I stood in line outside for about an hour. I was then escorted into another security area where you go through a scanner and they literally look through everything you have. It was much more intense than airport security. I was then escorted by an armed officer up the elevator to a waiting room. I immediately went up to the counter and gave them only the things listed on the instructions they sent. Then I sat and waited for another hour. When I did get called again for the interview (at a counter, your standing on the other side of a glass) the interview lasted about 2 minutes. Questions were simple (where did you meet, how often do you see each other, have you met his parents-where do they live) , has he met yours. He did not ask me for any additional information. He then told me I was approved and I dropped off my passport at the original check in window. I received my passport with visa about a week later. All in all very easy process! 2018-02-13
