Stood in a line for 5 minutes before I was inside. Calm, but had no idea what was going to happen. There were about 20-30 others in line with me while I was there. I got through security and went downstairs to wait with about 40 others. I sat next to the elevator as that was about the only seat left. I didn't know we'd be going upstairs. I was the first on and the first off as the elevator opened towards the back. Once upstairs, we were directed to the left and we all filed out and then the IO told us to line up, conveniently for me, exactly where I was standing. I was then the first person to be called up to booth 1. I paid my fees and was told to go sit and my name would be called. My name, of course was the first to be called and I know the rest of those who were there were were frustrated that this guy who comes in after most everyone else is going first. I was just in the right spot at the right time every step of the way. I went up to the booth and the lady asked me for only a few of the things I had taken with me. I was supposed to have copies of a couple things, but I only had the original. My bad... I then paid the fees and came back and the woman printed me, etc. I was then told to go sit again and wait for my name to be called again for the interview. Only a few minutes later, I was called in for the interview. The IO was a very nice guy. He asked me a couple questions like where did you meet your fiancée, have you ever had any trouble crossing the boarder, etc. It was very casual and enjoyable. He said congratulations, you're approved. He also informed me that I should have everything next week. In less than an hour from the time I left my hotel, which was just around the corner, I had my interview and was granted my Visa and returned to call my fiancée to tell her the news. All in all, my expectations were completely over rated in the difficulty, and length of time I'd have to be there. I was very pleased! | 2010-12-27 |
