Mariessa & Evan | United Kingdom | California | No | London, United Kingdom | 2016-02-29 | 2016-03-03 | 2016-06-13 | 2016-06-30 | 2016-09-12 | 196 | 3 | 119 | 74 | Ok so I think this is where I write the embassy review.. if it isn't I'm sure someone will let me know! I had my interview in London at midday today! I was an hour and twenty minutes early they said I could go in as it's first come first serve really! They take your passport and your letter inviting you to the interview at the building entrance write your visa type on the letter and tell you to go through security. That takes two seconds just like airport security! Please note you are allowed your phone! I'd read reviews where people say they got taken off you or you had to leave them somewhere this isn't the case! I was the first to arrive for a K1 visa that day. I got given a number and told to watch for the number on the big screen. It is a big room with a large screen lots of chairs facing the screen and bank like kiosks. You wait for your number to be called on the screen. They have lists of what paperwork you need in which order on a screen also. You go to your kiosk when your number comes up- note their are lines of people behind you when you go to the kiosks above 12. I had 13 and people were standing watching both times I went up! You just have to ignore this! The first person took my police report and birth certificate I swore an oath to tell the truth and gave my fingerprints. I think it is at this point I gave my fiance's affidavit of support and one piece of supporting evidence. We had prepared everything they could have asked for but they gave me a choice of which I wanted to give them. They sometimes ask for ds-160 at this point but they didn't with me. It is electronic so this may depend on your country. They scanned just one of my passport photos! I had brought plenty incase! They also give you your x-ray which you must keep safe! I was told to go sit back down. About three minutes later I was called up, again people standing behind me, they are quite close to you and it was slightly off-putting but then you are focused on the person interviewing and you soon forget! He didn't hang about, no chatting or smiling straight into questions. I got asked a lot I will write them as I remember them but this isn't the order that they were asked; where did you and your fiance meet? Where specifically did you meet, how much time did you spend together at this time? Did you go home straight after this? How many times have you visited him? What was the longest visit? Where does he live, what type of building? Who does he live with? What does he do for a living? What do you do for a living and more questions on my job! Have you met each others families? What do you plan to do when you arrive...? Ok so this one I was confused if he meant job or what I would actually do... So I started to say about job then he kind of smiled and was like what about a big event...obviously I was meant to say the obvious that we will get married and I told him the date! Have I had a us visa before? Do either of us have children? He did ask a couple more questions but I cannot remember, I know they were small ones. I was giving short answers as I'd been told only give them what they ask for don't go on as you could seem over confident or too rehearsed. I think the London embassy do just ask a lot of questions. He is typing the entire interview, he did look me in the eye when asking or listening to my answer. Then he said so calmly, I have filed your visa you can get your passport in one to two weeks.... I was in shock and must have just stood their and said thank you and he said you can go now. So that was that I left! It was all so calm and somehow I thought I would be way more nervous. I must have been out in half an hour! When you see all the people there and look at the interviewers you see they are just people like us. They arent trying to not approve you! I'll post this in the embassy review as Im not sure where it should go! Hope this may help someone! :) | 2016-09-12 | ||||||||||
