The same goes for the IV Bill. I have the date the VISA was approved (as printed on the VISA), we received it two days later. Our VISA interview (US Embassy, Tokyo, Japan): We went to the windows three times, first to give them her passport and the medical exam envelope, second for biometrics, third for the interview. It was a lot of waiting but we were only called up three times (see above) and the only questions they asked us were confirming our US address (to send the green card to), asking when my wife planned to make the move (to make sure it was within the VISAs validity period), and they asked me if I knew that I didn't have to be there (to which I stated yes, but I wanted to be there with my wife). The lady said our case was cleared in her system and she sent it to the printer. We got it in the mail two days later with the packet for the US immigration officer. :) As iceman33 suggested the interview was supper easy, it was a long wait in between counter visits though (which made me just a little bit nervous) but it all went smoothly so I consider it time well spent. :) 2010-11-06
Joe&kyoko Kyoko & Joe Japan California No Tokyo, Japan 2008-01-23 2008-02-14 2008-09-12 2008-09-23 2009-02-25 2009-02-27 2009-02-28 2009-02-28 2009-02-28 2009-04-20 2009-04-22 2009-05-08 2007-11-22 453* 2008-08-29 Received I-797C, NOA Transfer Notice: My case was transferred from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center. 2008-12-03 Called NVC. I-864 package wasn't received after making the I-864 bill payment online. Nor was the instruction package after paying the IV bill online. NVC said that the instructions on the online bill payment screen were somewhat misleading and instructions won't come by mail. I should download, complete, and mail in the I-864 from the NVC website. 2008-12-26 I received a checklist letter from NVC indicating I was missing form DS-230-I. 2009-01-14 Mailed signed DS-230 Part I and II (DS-230 Part II wasn't requested on the checklist but sent it anyway). Note: Wife could not obtain a police certificate because Japanese police will not release it without a letter of instruction from the US embassy. 2009-01-28 Received a 2nd checklist letter from NVC requesting: marriage certificate, 2 passport photos, copy of passport ID page, and Japan police certificate. 2009-01-29 Police accepted a copy of I-130 approval letter and the checklist requesting a police certificate. They released the certificate. 2009-02-09 Mailed remaining documents listed in the checklist letter to NVC. 2009-02-24 Called NVC. Automated system said it didn't recognize my case number. I called again and talked to an operator. They said my case has been mailed to the US embassy in Tokyo today and they told me the interview date. 2009-06-11
