Its not for the faint of heart, especially bringing in someone from the Philippines. USCIS, the NVC and the U.S. Consulates are NOT helpful whatsoever. They are completely dysfunctional where the left hand basically don't know what the right hand is doing. I can go on and on about how many times I was lied to, had to get my congressman and senators offices involved, and how they basically cover up all the mistakes they make. The basic mistake that American citizens make is that USCIS and NVC are doing you a favor. You shouldn't feel that way. You are PAYING for this service and should expect professional, courteous, effective and TIMELY service from any and all government departments. And don't get me started on the dysfunctionality of the Philippines government offices. They are even worse. And this whole business of getting your NSO background clearance is such a load of crap. Just remember, if you don't get an answer you don't like from any of the government departments, ask to speak to a supervisor. ALWAYS!! And keep going up one level to another of supervisors until you get someone who can actually make a decision or actually help you. I had to constantly send emails & call my Senators office when I was in the Philippines because of the clown show that was going on at the Philippines U.S. Embassy. The Ambassador is a waste of skin, and the Filipinos that work at the Embassy think they own the place!! If you're a U.S. Citizen, don't even speak to the Filipinos in the Embassy if you have a problem. Don't waste your time. Just go right up to one of the windows and ask to speak to a supervisor. That's how I got things dealt with when I was there. They wanted us to wait for my wifes "letter of explanation" AFTER I had already booked plans to interview at the Philippines/U.S. Embassy with my wife. I lost it at the U.S. Embassy and was confronted by some jerk who was interviewing my wife....starting to tell her, "sorry, you're going to need to get this clarification letter before we can approve your Visa". It says right on their own website that you're supposed to get ALL your documentation in order BEFORE your interview. And the Embassy wants to be able to control who requests this "letter of explanation". That's WRONG!!!! You should be able to get this "letter of explanation" BEFORE you go to your interview, just like it says on the Embassies website that you should. Don't be afraid to raise a stink. These people are your typical government workers & is your typical government dept. Brutally understaffed and incapable of following through with picking their noses. I will NEVER do this again if my wife and I ever break up. Waaaaaaay too stressful and nerve racking. 2015-02-03
