E & J Lewisville TX Lockbox New York City NY 2017-07-24 2017-07-26 2017-08-15 2018-04-05 Yes 2018-08-15 6/17/2017 -Sent N-400 application using Priority mail. 6/19/2017 - Post Office delivered my wife's application. 6/20/2017 - Notice Date The Notice said my application was denied because it was on an outdated form. My application, check and supporting documents were sent back to me. I confirmed that I used the right formed. I checked with a lawyer that the people that accept the applications aren't USCIS employees and they aren't trained well and they do make mistakes. 6/25/2017.- I sent the same application by FedEx back to USCIS explaining that I believe my application was rejected in error. 6/27/2017 - FedEx delivered the application. 7/5/2017 - Again the application was returned because they said it was on an outdated form. The application was on the correct form. I did notice my jurisdiction change where to file from Pheonix, AZ to Dallas, TX. Hopefully, I have better luck with Dallas. 7/8/2017 - Sent the application to USCIS by priority mail. I also filed the G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance so I can receive a text and email when the application is accepted immediately. Altternatively, I would have to wait for a letter from USCIS. 7/11/2017 - My application sent by Priority mail was delivered to the P.O. Box. 7/17/2017 - The application comes back. My application was rejected again because it says that it is outdated. I confirmed that the application was the OMB No. 1615-0052 that expires on 3/31/2017. 7/18/2017 - I called USCIS to find out my application keeps getting rejected. The woman I spoke had me confirm the edition date of my form on the bottom. It was 3/26/2016. There is a later one of 12/23/2016. It didn't matter that the form I was using expires 3/31/2019 and the name of the form is identical to what it says on the website. You still need the 12/23/2016 version. At least I know now why it was rejected. 7/21/2017 - Mailed the N-400 via USPS Priority Mail with the 12/23/2016 edition of the form (fingers crossed everything will be ok.) 7/24/2017 - USPS Delivered the applicaion to the P.O. Box. 7/27/2017 - Received Text and email confirming my case was accepted. :) 7/28/2017 - USCIS mailed the Notice of Action. 8/1/2017 - Received Notice of Action in the mail. 8/1/2017 - USIS mailed my Fingerprint appointment. 8/5/2017 - Received Fingerprint appointment.. 8/22/2017 - Received text from USCIS Informing me "Case Is In Line For An Interview." 2/26/2018 - Received text that my case was updated. My status on the USCIS website said "we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization" 3/1/2018 - Received Notice that my wife's interview is scheduled for April 5, 2018 4/5/2018 - My wife passed her interview. She had to read out a sentence, She had to write the following sentence: Mexico is South of the United States. These were the Interview quesitons: 1) How many justices are on the Supreme Court ? 2) What does the President's Cabinet do ? 3) What did the Declaration of Independence do ? 4) We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years ? 5) Name one branch or part of the government 6) If both the President and Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President. My wife answered 6 out of 6 correctly. Remember, these are the questions my wife was asked. No guarantee you will be asked the same so study study study all 100 questions. Also the Interviewer went over my wife's N400 application and asked her questions about it. My wife was asked if she paid taxes and she said yes. The Interviewer didn't ask for proof, but my wife had proof from the IRS if she was asked. 4/7/2018 - Received a letter from USCIS. We thought it was a letter saying when the Ceremony is. To our absolute surprise, it was letter stating they needed more information (including IRS tax statements. They also said they wanted copies of health and life insurance policies, bank statements, cancel checks showing a joint bank account, utility bills, Lease agreements, credit card statement. Remember, the person interviewing us never said any of this to us and we had the IRS proof which probably is what they were most concerned about. Lesson to be learned, if you didn't send in the IRS, give them the IRS forms at the interview even if they don't ask for it. 4/14/2018 - Sent priority mail, banks statement, credit card statements, Health Insurance cards and Lease agreement 4/16/2018 - My priority mail was received at 26 Federal Plaza in the mailroom at 2:38 pm 5/29/2018 - There has been no update on my case. The last update was about the interview being scheduled on 2/26/2018. I made an online inquiry about my case taking longer. I was told when i filled the form that I should have an answer June 20th. Under "Next Steps" when i look up my case it says "As of May 29, 2018, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SRXXXXXXXXXXXQNS, is currently not assigned for processing". 6/8/2018. This was the new update when I checked my case online On June 8, 2018, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR11XXXXXXXXXXXQNS, was assigned to an officer for response 6/12/2018- An additional update when i checked my case. On June 12, 2018, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SRXXXXXXXXXXXQNS, was completed. On June 12, 2018, we sent a response to your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SRXXXXXXXXXXXQNS 6/14/2018 - I called USCIS to get a Status update. They said the application was approved and recommended for an appointment on April 28th and i will probably get a Ceremony date in 4 months. Sometimes it pays to call because the last official update I have from the website is that is an old update from February that an Interview has been scheduled. 6/18/2018 - Received a letter with the official response. It was true that my application was recommended on April 28th as they, but they will need to do reverification on my application.before being inline for a Ceremony date. We will see how long it will take. 8/2/2018 - Received text from USCIS that there was an update to my case. I checked online. It said an Oath Ceremony was mailed. I had my wife call USCIS to find out what day the Ceremony is, but they didn't have access to that information. I will have to wait for the letter to arrive. 8/9/2015 - Received notice that the Ceremony will be in Brooklyn on August 15, 2018. If you don't get your letter after you have been notified it was sent, contact USCIS immediately for the date. In my notification about the oath ceremony letter being sent, it said to contact USCIS on September 1st if I didn't receive it. That would have been 2 weeks after the Ceremony. 8/20/2018 - Ceremony was on 8/15/2018. It was disappointing that Security take your phones and cameras away from you; only to be given back to you after you leave the building. It would have been nice to record the Ceremony. You will need to bring all Green Cards that were issued to you; even if they expired. If you have any travel permit or work permit, I believe you need to return that also. They shred your old Green Card as you give them to you. In Brooklyn where my wife's ceremony was all friends and family were in a separate floor viewing the Ceremony on TV. The TV had no volume. When the swearing in started, the Security Guard put on the volume so we could hear the Oath, the new citizens doing the Pledge of Allegiance and a very nice speech by the Judge who did the Ceremony. Make plenty of copies the Certificate of Naturalization. My wife applied for her U.S. Passport on Saturday. They required her original Certificate of Naturalization and a Black and White copy of it. After the original Certificate of Naturalization is mailed back to her with her new passport, she will need to update Social Security now that she is a Citizen. Either the Certificate of Naturalization or the New Passport will be proof for Social Security. Good Luck to everyone. I hope you found these updates helpful. 2018-08-27
