Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

3 RepliesHello everyone,
I m reaching out to the community for advice or shared experiences regarding a frustrating situation with my Green Card processing.
I entered the U.S. on June 29, 2024, through the Diversity Visa Program and paid the required Immigrant Visa fee on June 26, 2024 online.
Upon my visa approval, I received a physical immigrant packet from the embassy, which I handed to the CBP officer upon entry. My passport was stamped with the I-551 temporary permanent resident endorsement. i received my SSC within 8 days but no gc.
After months of waiting and numerous calls, uscis answered my Inquiry stating as follow: A search of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicates that USCIS has not received your Department of State (DOS) issued Immigrant Visa (IV) Packet, which should have been submitted by the Port of Entry (POE) when you entered the United States. USCIS requires a completed IV Packet to process your Permanent Resident Card (PRC).
If you are in possession of your IV Packet, please mail the complete IV Packet to the following address:
USCIS
Attn: IV
2501 S State Highway 121 Business
Suite 400
Lewisville, TX 75067
If you are not in possession of your IV Packet, you will need to schedule an appointment with your local Field Office.I made an appointment through info pass On November 18, 2024, during that, I submitted all the required documentation and any materials necessary for the packet recreation. Unfortunately, I received no updates after this appointment.
On January 8, 2025, I received a response to an inquiry I had submitted, which confirmed that USCIS still had not received the recreated packet. As a result, I was advised to schedule yet another appointment to address this issue.
Current Status:
- My USCIS account only shows that the Immigrant Visa fee was received on June 26 and that my case was created on July 2, but there are no updates reflecting my appointments or actions taken.
- My temporary document will expire on June 29, 2025, and I am worried about the lack of progress.
- I have a second appointment scheduled at the field office to address this issue again, but I m uncertain about how to ensure the matter is resolved this time.
Questions for the Community:
- Has anyone else experienced a similar situation where the original IV packet was lost or not processed correctly? what should I expect during the process?
- Do you have tips for handling my upcoming field office appointment to ensure my recreated packet is sent and processed correctly?
- is there any way to have them expedite the processing of my case considering repetitive delays and errors ?
- For those who ve contacted their Congressperson, did it help speed up the process?
I appreciate any advice or insights you offer. This delay has been extremely stressful, and I m eager to get this resolved.
Thank you!

2 RepliesHi all,
My wife will be in Manila, Philippines for her IR-1 interview starting Jan 29 and I'm wondering if I can just mail her my documents while she is there in Manila? She will be in an airbnb, but is it possible to have the docs picked up at an official location of sorts? Thank you!

4 RepliesI got married in the Philippines about 11 years ago, brought my wife to Hawaii and We got divorced 2 years ago (2022) because she cheated on me. I am now talking to another girl from the Philippines and planning to see her this April 2024. If all goes well, how do I go about doing a 'Fianc Visa'? Do I need an 'Annulment' from the Philippines for my Ex-wife?
Also If anyone knows the answer to this question:
My ex and I have two boys together ages 4 & 10, I have full custody of them (physical and legal) and I am planning to bring my boys with me to the Philippines. My question is Do I need to have my Ex-wife make a consent letter to have the boys travel with me?
I'm thinking I don't need a consent letter from her because I have full custody but I want other peoples opinions if any of you had experienced it. I will bring my 'divorce decree' showing I have full custody just in case the airport ask for it.
thank you in advance

12 RepliesI am an American citizen and will be getting married to an Ecuadorean citizen on January 31st. I plan to file for her and her two children (17 and 15 years old). I am wondering first if it is feasible to file without using an immigration lawyer and second if I file the I-130s together, I am wondering if the children would necessarily have to travel to the US with their mother or if they can follow her shortly after she comes as we would like to get a bit settled before bringing them over and would like for the younger one to graduate from high school before coming to live here. I appreciate any advice on how to go about the process. Thank you.
