I accompanied my fiancée and her 3 year old daughter entering yesterday on K1/K2 visas. We arrived at Orlando's new Terminal C, which was very nice and modern. At this terminal you collect your baggage first before going through immigration, unlike most US airports where you go through immigration first.

I waited in the Visitors line with them and it was no problem. The officer at the passport control booth didn't speak Spanish, but was ok speaking only to me in English and didn't have any questions for my fiancée. He was very friendly and said how nice it was to come with them. He then handed my fiancée's envelopes and passports to another officer who escorted us to secondary, allowing me to go with them. This officer interacted with my fiancée's daughter and made her feel at ease.

We took a seat in secondary and waited probably about ten minutes before an officer called us up to the counter. We asked if the officer spoke Spanish and he did not, so I said no problem, that I can translate for my fiancée. To my surprise, he was fine with this and pretty much directed everything to me rather than to my fiancée. He asked if we were aware that we needed to marry within 90 days, how long we have known each other, how we met, if I had other friends or family in Colombia, what we were bringing in our luggage and how much cash we had with us. He then told us to take a seat again and he would call us up once everything was processed. A few minutes later he called us back and handed their passports back stamped and told us we needed to marry before September 21.

All in all, it was actually a very nice experience! My fiancée felt very welcome, and I was happy that this was her first impression of the United States.
