My husband had no trouble with the Customs and Border Patrol, but he arrived on a flight from Istanbul so it took almost three hours for him to be seen by CBP. Once they actually go to him, it was less than 10 minutes. He waited so long that the CBP brought his luggage from the baggage claim so it wouldn't go unclaimed.
Easy with Customs, but be prepared to possibly wait a long time! There was WiFi for free in the CBP area so my husband could communicate with me at least!
