This could not have been any smoother and less stressful. The whole process took about 30 minutes, including the "line," and it left us with plenty of time to eat and relax and celebrate before our connecting flight. The CBP officers did not allow me (the USC) to be next to her during the interview, but I could overhear everything and they were nice and joked around with her a little bit.
Something to note:
When I arrived at passport control, I asked a CBP officer right before the kiosks what should we do since we are having her come in on a K1 visa and he had us skip everything and go immediately to a separate CBP booth with nobody waiting. I was so worried we would have to wait in line with the visitors, but we skipped that entirely. Just ask a CBP officer before you get to the kiosks if you are there on a K1 visa and they should let you through!!
Very nice and patient people. All of them appear to be bilingual EnglishSpanish (it's Miami, after all...).
