We waited in the "Visitors" line for about an hour. Several international flights had arrived at the same time. I was with two USC family members and they were allowed to wait in the same line as me, so we wouldn't be separated. I gave my packet to the CBP officer and he was annoyed it was completely destroyed. My packet arrived so damaged due to the bulk (I'm pretty sure there was 10lbs of evidence in there). It was a very thin manila envelope that just withstand the sheer weight of my file. The officer asked if I opened it, I said no it arrived that way and I didn't even take it out of the DHL bag. I opened the DHL bag and slid my passport out and didn't touch the rest. The passport had a loose sheet of paper that explained how to pay the immigrant fee. The CBP officer had me go to the second screening room since my packet was damaged. There I waited for about five minutes. The second officer asked if I opened the packet, I said no and explained how I only slid the passport out and didn't touch the rest. The officer asked if I was traveling with anyone, I said yes, then she asked who, I answered who I was with. She asked where I was coming from and where I was going. And that was It! She stamped my passport and handed me a sheet of paper explaining when I'd get my green card. I was then able to meet up with my traveling companions. After waiting in line for an hour, the process with the CBP officers took a whole 5-10min. They were neither rude nor polite, just taking their job seriously. Practically no hassle at all, just nerves that the packet was damaged.
