My POE experience was a little different. I'd gotten gastro or food poisoning on the plane, and was so weak when I got into LAX I had to be wheel chaired everywhere. I was also travelling with my almost 10 month old who's already a US Citizen. We were pushed ahead in the line and in a wheelchair.

When we got to the window the immigration officer asked for our passports and paperwork. I handed them over. I mentioned I'm a first time immigrant and that my husband already arrived a week ago. He went about looking through paperwork, asked me to do my right hand fingerprints. Then about 5 mins of typing stuff into his system and looking through my paperwork.
Eventually I heard the sound of his admission stamp, he handed back our passports and said "ok all done"

No "welcome to america" or anything dramatic at all lol
