My fiance traveled from India with the K1 Visa. It was surprisingly easy. I am not sure how this worked but his flight connected from Bangalore to Abu Dhabi. And once arriving in Abu Dhabi US Immigration asked him for his sealed envelope.
I asked my fiance is that really ok? He said they stamped his VISA and apparently it was all set. When he arrived in JFK he didn't have to do anything but the normal procedure for any citizen that arrives.
