I was allowed to accompany Noom through immigration. No complaints really since Noom breezed through. But some of the staff were rude (barking at folks, being sarcastic, and giving confusing directions) and disorganized. Frankly, I was embarrassed and thought...what a welcome these folks are getting.
And the officer who reviewed Noom's file didn't really seem to know what he was doing. He flipped through the file pages several times like he was looking for something he couldn't find. He didn't ask any questions, didn't say welcome to America, just stamped the file, stamped the passport, and said "You're all set" which Noom didn't understand at all. He seemed indifferent really; maybe he was homophobic. Now the guard at the next counter extended his congratulations to the couple, asked to see the ring, made everyone laugh and really comfortable. Our guard was a big grump.
The entire experience from getting in line through passport stamp took about 20 minutes. No issues, no harrassment.
