We arrived at JFK Terminal 7 from Kiev on Ukraine International Airlines (from Vilnius) on 09/27/2016.
We were fortunate to have been upgraded to premium economy and were some of the first ones off the plane and through customs. I asked someone at the beginning of the USC and non-USC lines which line we (my fiance and I) should use, since I am a USC and my fiance is accompanying me on a K1. I was directed through the non-USC line.
There was no wait and we were greeted warmly by Officer Grant. He was friendly and polite, asking my fiance and I few questions each. One misdirected question may have been asked to my fiance -- where she would be working. My fiance responded truthfully/appropriately saying nowhere until she receives proper approvals.
Office Grant informed us that to complete paperwork, we would be directed to the secondary processing area. We were escorted there and found ourselves among some ill, disgruntled and confused people.
Our wait in secondary processing was <10 minutes. We were called ahead others that had been waiting longer. The officer (not Grant) at the counter was very curt. My fiance was handed her passport and we waited a couple seconds not sure of what the next step would be -- he got impatient and said something to the effect of "that's it, you can go".
It took longer to wait for our baggage.
We declared items on our customs form. We went through secondary inspection there as well and passed through with nothing more than a few questions asked.
