My experience with the POE in JFK was excellent.
I arrived to JFK at 1 pm. I went to the Visitors area. We were lucky because it was completely empty. I gave my passport and a yellow package to the CBP officer. He asked me: Have I ever visited the US? I said yes. Then he had some troubles with his computer and went to another officer with my passport to get some info and came back. He appologized that I had to wait. Then started putting information from my resume page (on the yellow envelope) in their database. In couple minutes he appologized again saying that he had an "old school computer" and it took him about 5 minutes to put everything together. After that he asked me about my address for a green card mailing. I gave him an AR-11 form (change of address) that I prepared because my husband moved to a different apartment complex at that time. He stamped my passport next to the Immigrant visa with an oval stamp and wrote CR-1 inside and my Alien number lower. Then he said I'm good to go. I asked him about my picture and fingerprints but he said that he couldn't do it because of his computer's problems. And that was it. No back room inspection. So, I took my luggage and went thru customs. I had my last flight in 4 hours.
