My connecting flight was from Narita. I entered the immigration hall which was extremely crowded and followed the normal people traffic for tourist visa. I kept getting shuffled about because the lines were extremely long.
finally I was standing in one line and so close to being my turn when an officer came up to me and asked me if I was here on K1 and I said yes. She then took me to another line 2 lanes down. I said I was sorry and didn't know she said it's alright and it happens a lot since it's so crowded. She smiled at me and wished me luck. The waiting time was definitely longer then the whole immigration process.
It was my turn and the immigration officer called me forward.
He asked me if this was my first time in the US I said yes.
He asked me how me and my Fiance met.
He asked me what my Fiance does for work.
Where he lives?
What I planned on doing on that I am here? - this is replied that I will be getting married and then hopefully begin the process where I can find work.
He opened the packaged and looked through the documents.
He said everything was in order and wished me good luck and told me to come back to Chicago as it is a great city to explore and that was not my final destination (I was heading to Boston).
He also reminded me that I have 90 days to be married and that I should not preform any fraud of any kind. And he inquired if I had read my rights as an immigrant. And that abuse of any kind should be reported, he then reminded me again that I should be married within 90 days.
Overall the experience was great. the officer was nice and kind. He smiled and did not make me feel uncomfortable at all. The only harassment was being shuffled about by the other officers while waiting in line.
