I am coming on a F11 visa (son/daughter of USC over 21)
I was told to go through the visitor line, took a while. Then I was asked name, birth date, and if I was related to anyone with US citizenship. I answered and then I was escorted to secondary. It was scary there because there were many others waiting there (visitors mostly) and the officers were not very nice (absolutely no cell phones allowed, and the officers would yank it from you if they found you using them). After some tense moments (I lost track of time) of waiting the officer called me, and escorted me to the new immigrants processing area. There I waited a bit, the officer had me sign some forms (no idea what for), fingerprinted the form, and then they handed me the passport back stamped with a "Welcome to United States" letter in it. Not sure if this is routine or were they conducting a background check...
Then over at Customs (my baggage sat next to the carasoul because everyone else had collected their bags) the customs officer asked a few Q's and then directed me to the line with the big X ray machine. After that they didn't have anymore questions for me.
