My fiancé flew from Port Au Prince to Miami on a Sunday morning. This was his first time flying. He asked a couple people for help locating customs and everyone was friendly. When he reached customs, he was taken to another room where he waited a short time (I got a call from him one hour after he arrived and he'd already finished customs). He thinks it only took 20-30 minutes to get through customs as there were a lot of officers and a lot of lines. They asked him how much money he brought, where he was going, and they looked through his packet. They reminded him that he had 90 days to get married and warned him of deportation. They also took his picture. He didn't have any issues claiming or rechecking his luggage or finding his next gate. However he was quite bored while waiting because he had an eight hour layover.
