Flew into Chicago on the first flight from London so the immigration hall was not very busy. They have a new system where those traveling on visas and ESTA for the first time have to go down a different line. This was a pretty slow process as after waiting in line for a while I was sent to secondary to be processed. The first officer took my finger prints on the scanner and photo then took my passport and visa package and walked me to the secondary area.
After a bit of a wait I was called up and confirmed who I was and the address for the greencard to be sent to. I had to sign a document front and back and provide a print of my right index finger. I was then told I was good to go.
My bags were the last ones from the flight to be collected but the airport staff were very efficient and had checked where I was then retrieved them for me.
Total process just under 2 hours. Make sure you have a decent layover at POE.
