I flew direct from London to Seattle, and my flight was delayed by about an hour and a half. On arriving at Seattle, the flight crew asked those of us without connecting flights to wait and allow people with connections to get off the plane first. I took my time getting off the plane, as I thought there might be a big queue at immigration.
It turned out most of the passengers on my flight were US citizens, and the visitor and visa line was empty. I got straight to a desk where the officer took my passport and my BBE. He was very pleasant, took my fingerprints and asked when the wedding was going to be. He then gave me a piece of yellow card along with my envelope and passport and directed me to another part of immigration, along to the left on a mezzanine above the baggage hall. A lady took my passport and envelope and told me to take a seat, and that I would be called when the officer was ready.
I had to wait for a while here for a little while (maybe 15-20 minutes), waiting for the one officer behind the counter dealt with some other people. He then opened up my envelope and looked through my file for several minutes without calling me up. He made a few annotations. He was quite a stern-looking chap (he reminded me of a Chinese Mr Spock - he didn't smile at all), but when he had finished going through my file he called me up to the counter.
He told me that I had 90 days to get married, and pointed out that I had used the K1 visa and could not use it to enter the country again. That was it! I was on my way.
