My fiancé and I arrived together in Atlanta with two cats in tow...
The process went quite quickly. We went together through the foreign visitors line. And then were escorted to the tripod section where the officer told the other "I have another K1 for you." [Insert groan from second officer]. "Don't worry, it's an easy one."
After a 10 minute wait my fiancé was seen. He was basically given a short quiz which consisted of something like, "You have 90 days to do what?" -"Get married." "After you marry, what do you need to do?" -"File to adjust status." "And if you don't get married, what do you have to do?" -"Go back home."
