So when I got to the pre-clearance section 2. hours before takeoff, I was faced with a huge crowd. This was due to 5 US-bound flights leaving in the next 2 hours, with mine being the last. Two of these flights had been delayed, hence the crowds. I was very glad that I'd decided to go straight through.
So I had to go through security first. It used to be after immigration, but it's now in the area just before, with about 8 different security lines. The queue was very long but constantly moving. Going through security was a doddle.
I then had to queue up for immigration. My USC fiancé was with me so we had to split up. By the time I got to the front of the line he'd already gone through, even though his line was longer. No fair!
The officer was very nice and one of the most friendly I've come across. I walked up to the desk and stated that I was on a K1 and that I hoped it wouldn't cause too much hassle for him. He laughed and said "no hassle for me, just a little for the guys through there!" And he pointed towards he secondary area. He asked if I had a wedding date, Which I gave him and he typed it into his computer. He then showed me a picture of my bags, asked if they were mine and then asked a member of the airport staff to take me through to secondary.
In the room there were about 6 other people, all of whom looked stressed and/or worried. The staff in there seemed to be dealing with all manner of things, from bags going missing on tricky connections to people having extra questioning due to entering the US so often. At this point I had an hour to catch my flight, and i got a little nervous when i heard how long some people had been waiting there (upwards of an hour). However, I didn't need to worry as I only waited about 20mins before I was called up to the desk. Whilst I was waiting I noticed an officer opening my white packet and flicking through its contents before tapping away on his computer. When he called me up, the man at the desk asked me if I was getting married and when. After I answered him, he said "ok, you're all set, off you go!"
Extremely easy
