Ok, apologies to everyone for not being on here for a while, but had so much to tie up at home before departure.. Any way after quite a pleasant flight I arrived at Philadelphia airport. I was praying there wasn't three planes coming in at the same time as I had experienced in the past.
It seemed there was only ours although other's did follow shortly afterwards, after about 10 minutes or so, it was my turn to go to border control. I produced the enormous envelope and he knew immediately what it was. We joked about the contents inside and then he steered me towards an interview room,(secondary interview).
I sat down not knowing what to do, until one of the men behind a desk in this open room said come here. He asked me for the envelope and passport and then told me to sit down. I sat there looking around, there was a guy sat next to me and to my right a lady having her suitcase searched. Three more people who seemed to be together walked in asking for the bathroom
I found that the room wasn't very private at all. The guy next to me had some kind of felony, I didn't want to over hear, but I couldn't help but do so.
After what seemed an eternity, I was again ushered to the front desk by the man who had taken my envelope and passport. He had been looking at his computer, probably a background check. He asked me if my fiance was in the country. I wanted to answer I bloody hope so, but I didn't I just said yes. He then asked when are you getting married. I said in a couple of weeks and we will have the "Big Wedding* at a later date as 90 days doesn't really give us time to get everyone together or planned. He said he understood our predicament.
And that was it, no pom and ceremony, I didn't hear trumpets or a fan fare. I just simply collected my suitcase from the conveyor belt and went on my merry way, tired and hot, but so excited to be reunited with my fiance.
PS. I didn't get the normal questions of why was I here, how long for, how much money I was carrying, what I did for a living, what my fiance did for a living etc.
All in all a good experience, although it was very hot in that airport and I did feel sorry for the border control guys working in that heat.
