I reached JFK with my fiancée on 27 nov this year. Apparently the officer at POE was not sure what to do with a K1 visa. He left his desk and asked me to follow him to an immigration office that was about 100 meters far. After reaching there he gave my documents to an officer sitting on a desk and left me there saying that this officer will process your case further.
When the Officer at the desk saw my passport, he told me that I am in the wrong section and he advised me to find the POE officer who brought me here and tell him that he had brought me to a wrong section. I took all my documents and found the POE officer who was on his way back to his counter and informed him of what I was told. Now this POE officer asked some of his fellow officer for advice on processing a K1.
After this he took me back to the immigration counter, wrote down my Alien number and stamped my passport and then brought me to another office. He kept my file in an appropriate folder and left me there telling me to wait for my name to be called out. Eventually my name was called out after 20 minutes and a lady officer handed me my passport instructing me to marry within 90 days. That was it.
