I'm writing on behalf of my (now!) husband:
My husband had a mixed experience in Philly. He had no problems with any immigrations officers (no harassment), but it happened to be very busy that day (maybe because it was a Friday?) and he missed his connecting flight to Indianapolis. :/
He was taken to a separate room along with every other non-US citizen who were being questioned or taken through extra steps before being allowed in. Because there were so many people he had to wait almost 1.5 hours. The only thing he was asked:
"When are you getting married?" and then they told him the deadline date to get married. They took his sealed envelope, but returned his X-rays to him.
He has flown through Philly before with virtually no problems with timing, so we (foolishly now, we realize) booked a flight with about 2 hours of layover (you need more, just in case!!!) We'd read several reviews of it taking about 15 minutes or so to get through, so we thought we'd gamble... oh well! As I mentioned before, he missed his flight to Indy by just a few minutes, but he was able to get on the next flight with no problem.
All in all, it was not a bad experience!
