Over all it was easy and went smoothly. I'd definitely recommend asking for an interpreter right away if your partner doesn't speak English and is traveling alone, my fiancé and I traveled from Mexico together so I could help him but there were a couple Chinese women who had a lot of difficulty communicating with an impatient officer until an interpreter was brought out.
There's a separate line for people processing immigrant/K visas in the main customs area, and they let us get in that line together. We waited in line briefly and once we were called up we were asked the wedding date and warned to get married with 90 days. My fiancé was asked about his mother's name, his birthplace, and the address where he was going. I answered some of the questions and interpreted when he didn't understand. The officer was courteous and just wanted to get the job done, and we got through customs and security in 1 hour flat!
