Got to inmigration, asked an officer where to stand since I was a K1 Visa holder, and he told me to go to the Citizens line. Went through there really fast, was asked basic questions like when we planned to get married; and the officer requested my sealed envelope. (Never asked for the x ray, I still have it with me)
He told me then "stand over there and just wait". I did for about 5 minutes, and then another officer came saying "what are you doing here, you can't stand here, it's a transit area" (not in a very nice way) to which I explained the other officer had told me to stand there. So this officer takes me to a second room and tells me to sit down and wait, "the process will be fast" he said, yeah...
Sit there for about half and hour and nothing, you had 8 officers and only 3 were working, even saw one reading the newspaper online... I was worried about my suitcases, wondering who was going to pick them at the carrousel, didn't want to have problems cause they were unattended. Eventually, a lady from the airline comes to the room and tells me that my bags will be put next to the carrousel and that when I'm done I'll be able to pick them up. So far so good.
Another half and hour goes by, and nothing. At this point I see people that came into this room way after me, leaving the room with their visas processed. I check and I see my envelope is still there waiting (mine was the only brown envelope there, so I knew it was mine). One officer goes to get it and hands it to another officer and he says "no dude... it's a K1, too much work, leave it to somebody else". So what do they do? They skip my file and keep processing other people... eventually, after almost two hours, I was fed up. Got up, told them that I've been waiting way to long and that at least I needed to go to the restroom if they wanted me to keep waiting. So, they let me go to the restroom and by the time I came back a lady was processing my file. It took them literally 10 minutes to do it. She asked me basic questions about my fiance and our relationship and reminded me the 90 days rule. I asked to check my I-94, to which she responded" oh, you've done your homework, you know about the process".
Left the room, my bags were waiting and finally left the airport.
My advice: go thinking it will take a while (2 hours in my case), because they are lazy, no doubt about it.
