Arrived in JFK, and ignored the massive lines for Visitors. Instead, we went to the line for Green Card holders (even though my wife is a USC and I was entering on an IR-1). Line was about 5 minutes.
The Immigration Officer was quite rude. I handed him our passports and the envelope, and he screamed "get that away from here". I explained that this was the envelope that I was told to bring. He looked at it again, and said "oh - is that how they do it over there? [London]". He took the envelope, put on some gloves, and ripped it open. Then he went through every page carefully, and started questioning my wife (the USC).
He asked me to put my finger on the reader for the biometrics, and didn't make it clear that I could take them off. He then said "come with me" and marched us off to secondary.
In secondary we waited about 15 minutes, before an officer took the papers, and in between chatting with his collegues, must have done some processing, because he called me over, told me to fingerprint a paper (real ink) and to sign, and then said: ok - you can go.
I was expecting a "Welcome to America", but nothing.
