We had to leave incredibly early for the flight because it was the Friday before the g20 summit in Toronto and I didn't want to be delayed because of traffic. luckily there was no traffic at all. Until I got into customs. Every time I go to Pearson I forget how packed it is in the customs line up. This time I thought I might be getting there early enough but the line up was already completely full. It took at least 30 minutes probably longer to get up to the front of the line. One woman had decided her luggage was too heavy and just left it and continued on in the line. As soon as it was noticed, she was told off a bit, but didn't lose her place in line.
Once I got to the front the person took my packet and passport logged me in and gave them back to me with a slip where I had to go to the customs main room and wait. The woman who had left her bags in line was there. I over heard that she was applying for a T1 visa but didn't have the paperwork she needed and she was denied entry. Two people total were denied during the hour I was there. Luckily I wasn't one of them.
When they finally got to me it was pretty cut and dry and only took about 15 mintues to process. Over an hour total just in the customs room waiting to be seen though. So I was glad for the extra time I had given myself to get through customs.
