For anyone out there crossing at the Ambassador Bridge, the only thing that I can say that I was told by the Border was that a Saturday is not the greatest time to cross and activate your visa. Other then that I could not have had a better experience through this whole process so far. From the guy directing traffic, the border patrol person, the guards at secondary to the people in side processing the paper work, they were all extremely pleasant and helpful. I thought that we might have some problems because I was travelling in my van with my son and dog and my fiancee had all my stuff in a Uhaul and truck. I thought and so did he that they were going to go thru the whole thing. I was prepared but I was hoping that we were not going to have to go thru that experience. The border guard told my fiancee, that the experience was stressful enough let alone having to repack a uhaul. She did look in the uhaul and nothing fell out!!!!!. Although he (my fiancee) could not come in with me, unless he parked his truck and uhaul outside the border grounds and walk back in which we were not going to do, that was about the only glitch. My son and I waited in the car for about 1/2 an hour until they came and got us to go in. They were extremely busy. I told them my dog was in a cage and was on sedatives because he does not travel well. They asked his name and then sent us in. They did come and get us after about a 1/2 hour or so to see if maybe he would like some water or to get out. But he did not want anything. The whole process inside took about 2 hours or so, (a little longer because they could not get a good reading on my sons finger printing - first time for him and he was not sure how - I was a happy mom knowing that lol. The other thing that probably held things up a bit was the fact that I was importing my van and I should have filled out this form. I had the letter from Chrysler but there is apparently a form. They have them there and they have cheat cheats to follow so that you fill it our correctly. AFter we got all the paper work done the border guard explained everything although he said that until I said 'I do' i could cross the border but the minute I said 'I do' and so did my fiancee, then after that I could not. With all the information out there about not crossing back over until your status changes I would not take any chances. After that he gave us back our passports with the I 94 attached and we were on our merry way. so happy!!!!. When we arrived at our new home my fiancee had planned a big party to welcome us to America. He is so terrific. All in all the whole day was a great experience.
