It was surprisingly straightforward. I stood in the NEW IMMIGRANTS queue. I had to wait for about 15 minutes as the group in front of me had 4 people in it. Once I got the the officer and my brown envelope was taken it was all very speedy. I had to fill sign and fingerprint the Green Card form, they didn't need to look at my X-Ray and I was off. The only additional thing they made me do was to have my bags scanned. The officials weren't very nice - very businesslike. When they asked me to sign the GC form (he had put a plastic temnplate over it so that the signature and fingerprint were inside the correct boxes, I asked to read what I was signing and the officer barked back 'do you want a green card or not?'. I was out before a lot of the tourists!
