We were worried because there was just over 2 and a half hours between arrival in Miami at approximately 9:10am and our connecting flight (one a day) to our final destination which departed at 11:40am.

As soon as we entered the immigration hall, my fiance asked at the assistance counter whether my being on a K1 would allow us both to be processed together in the US citizens line. Luckily, it did. Even more luckily, there was no one in the newly open booth that we were directed to and we were seen straight away.

At the booth, he took the not-so-mysterious-now-that-I-have-seen-it envelope from me, my passport, my finger prints and photo, did some entry on the computer and stamped some papers and then escorted us to a glassed in area to the right of the hall. There was one family ahead of us. It took the officer about 15 minutes to start the processing of their papers, and they were finished in about 20 minutes.

Next up: us. My fiance and I sat doing word puzzles while we waited. 10 minutes after we knew he had started our case, he called my fiance over, handed him my passport, they exchanged a few words and that was it. We were released to customs.

Done in under an hour.
