after a long flight for myself and poopie it was time to head off the plane, id slept through most of the flight and missed the handing out of the I194 cards, had to go looking for a steward to get one.
once it was completed i was able to get off the plane, i was concerned for my dog because she had been in a crate for 13 hours already.
i followed the crowd with my MBE, the queues were long and it seemed that everyone else was getting through faster than my queue was moving, the guards were moving people from queue to queue but nothing was really moving at all!
so im now at the front of the queue and in tears to boot! i had just realised that my mum had opened the MBE/xray envelope and i was now thinking i was in big trouble with immigration, as it turned out i saw the nicest homeland security and freindliest person i had met the entire trip! he asked me lots of questions, like - arnt the men in the UK any good? or is it the food? im laughing at this point. he stamped my passport, asked more questions and then he told me to follow another guy who already had 4 people with him, i was escorted to the lift and taken downstairs, where i was told to sit and the MBE was taken to the desks at the front of the room, again i was thinking everyone else was moving quicker and i was forgotten about, until the first guy i saw came in the room and saw me sitting there, still...this was after about an hour, i was up in front of the desk next and the guy i saw there had a bit of an attitude, he commented on the size of the petition and i replied...thats not even half of it, i guess answering back isnt an option because he told me to sit again where i was for another half hour or so, then he came over and directed me to another guy who pointed me through the door...this was the luggage room...I HAD ARRIVED! lol...i couldnt find my three massive cases because of all the flights which had arrived after mine, the place was full of cases, eventualy i found them and the exit where i was greeted by the worst american i had met...she asked why i had so much luggage, i told her i was moving here, she asked why and i told her...she didnt like my answer...but pushed me through the exit...i went round the corner and there was my yank with his two beautiful girls...
my poopie still had to be collected and we had no idea where from, she had now been in the crate for 16 hours. eventually after a few questions and driving we found where she was, she wasnt happy, though the wearhouse staff were loving her...she was getting lots of attention but was so sad looking, until she saw dan, she looked at him and turned in the crate, then she saw me and started jumping around like a puppy.
both of us are so happy we are here and have never looked back, ive been here for 2 months now and nothing but the tetley tea is missed...the coffee is a good substitute! i wouldnt go back to the UK for all the tea in india!!
it has been worth all the stress and harrasment to get to this point...and now im a MRS!!
